Logan Lake Better at Home – Est. 2013

 

Better at Home is a program that was developed to assist seniors with non-medical, day-to-day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their homes and remain connected to their communities. The Government of British Columbia funds Better at Home, United Way of the Lower Mainland manages it, and a local non-profit organization provides the services. Logan Lake Better at Home has been designed around the needs of the seniors that live within this community. The Logan Lake Wellness, Health & Youth Society was chosen as a pilot project for Better at Home by the United Way of the Lower Mainland and on October 1, 2013 Logan Lake Better at Home was established and given an operating budget of $50,000. Logan Lake Better at Home has provided close to 14,000 services to date. We look forward to providing non-medical home support to seniors within Logan Lake for years to come.

The specific services offered by Logan Lake Better at Home include:

  • Light housekeeping

  • Snow Removal (on a volunteer basis)

  • Light Yard work

  • Friendly Visitor Program

  • Local Transportation to medical appointments

  • Medical transportation to Kamloops and Merritt - On hold due to COVID-19

  • Minor home repairs

  • Grocery shopping

  • Social Events

 

 Availability – Housekeeping Service

Do you need help with housekeeping?  The Logan Lake Better At Home program has reliable housekeepers available at an affordable cost.  We sweep, mop &/or vacuum the floors, clean the bathrooms and do light kitchen cleaning.  Please contact us if you have any questions.

Volunteer opportunity!!!

Logan Lake Better at Home is currently in need of volunteer drivers willing to take clients to medical appointments in Kamloops/Merritt. Drivers will receive reimbursement of a $25 gas card per round trip. Please contact: 250-320-3676 if interested.

  

 

Eligibility

Clients must be 60+ and reside in Logan Lake to be eligible for the Better at Home Program.

Fees for Better at Home services are determined on a sliding scale based on an ability to pay. Most services are provided by volunteers at no charge. Contact the Logan Lake Better at Home Coordinator for more details.
