This class of yoga safely stresses the bones without impact and is shown to strengthen bone without weakening the joints.

The purpose of Yoga is to gain control, NOT lose it.


Seniors Chair Class

Mondays 12:15pm - 1:00pm

Cost: $0  Pre-Registration at the WHY is required.

Starts September 28, 2020

Gentle chair yoga and exercise class for seniors can be practiced by almost anyone at any age.  The entry-level requirement for practicing yoga in a chair is simply the ability to breathe and to sit upright in a chair while gently moving the torso and limbs.  We will be exploring stretches and movement that will allow you to experience a release of tension and tightness in the  body.  We will use blocks , bands , and the chair for aids. 

The benefits of chair exercises for seniors are:

  • Better flexibility and range of motion

  • Increased blood circulation

  • Increased muscle strength

  • Less joint stiffness and pain

  • Better concentration & elevated mood

  • Lower levels of stress & anxiety

Yoga classes are usually offered on an ongoing monthly basis from September to June. 


Register monthly for each class.

All yoga classes taught at the WHY facility are available at a drop-in fee ($12.00 per person/per any yoga class) if minimum registration numbers have been reached for the monthly session.


Everyone welcome.  Previous experience in yoga is not required.

Please keep in mind that we require a minimum of four (4) registered participants in order to run a yoga session.
